Community Give Back

Adopt ~ a ~ Family Christmas Program

KBP Adopt a Family for Christmas.jpg

Christmas is a little brighter each year for the children and families served by Kentucky Black Pride, thanks to the generosity of donors who support the annual ‘Adopt-a-Family’ program, now in its 3rd year. Each year, we look to sponsor a family in need whether they QTPOC or not.   In 2019, we were able to sponsor a family through Salvation Army's Angel Tree program.

Each year, Kentucky Black Pride collects the names and details of a family with children that need a helping hand for the holidays. Information includes such items as children’s age, gender, clothing size, special interests, and possible gift suggestions. For children age 12 and under, it is requested that the gift include an outfit (shirt and pants) and an age-appropriate toy.

Those looking to adopt a family should contact, Shawn Ka'Ron Bumpase at (859) 285-3091 or Cheryl Adams at (859) 317-1466 or by emailing kentuckyblackpride@yahoo.com. Gifts should be delivered to Kentucky Black Pride for distribution to families no later than December 11, 2021.

John G. Bentley Feed the Homeless Program

Feed the Homeless.jpg

Hunger and homelessness often go hand in hand. There are several ways to satisfy your desire to feed those in need, depending upon your comfort level. Volunteering your time or offering food are several ways to help. Over 5 years ago our late co-founder John G. Bentley, wanted to give back to the community for his birthday. So he connected with Under the Bridge ministry, Antioch Baptist Church and Kentucky Black Pride to host a Feed the homeless night for his birthday. This mindful act has continued in the legacy of his family, church and Kentucky Black Pride. This event is held every year in June around John's birthday.
